  • Avicenna Tajik State Medical University was set up in 1939 with the name Abu Ali Ibn Sino University as a school of medical personnel.

  • In 1945, this university was allocated leading disciplines like therapy, surgery, obstetrics, and gynecology and during 1950-1959 the university was then renamed as Avicenna Tajik State Medical Institute.

  • From the very beginning of 1989, there were 51 doctors and 326 candidates of sciences working at the institute. There were around 65+ faculties and 10 courses that were working. Tajik State Medical Institute received the status of Tajik State Medical University after the name of Avicenna in 1992.

  • In the year 2010, ATSMU started the 5 years complete MBBS program (with internship) for foreign medical students

Avicenna Tajik State Medical University was first established in 1939 and was named Abu Ali Ibn Sino University. The reason to establish this university was to improve the level of medical studies for both native and international students.

ATSMU is located in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and there are a variety of historical places near the university campus that are :-

Avicenna Tajik State Medical University is one of the oldest medical universities located in Tajikistan and there are multiple benefits to studying at this university.

ATSMU is managed by the Ministry of Health and has received accreditation from MCI, WHO, USMLE, UNESCO, FAIMER, and DORA. The MBBS course provided is five years long with one year of compulsory internship. The medium of MBBS studies in English and no ragging is permitted on or around the college campus. Another plus point of studying MBBS at ATSMU is that Dushanbe is just 2.5 hours away from Delhi, India.
